Programs
All of Health Masters Club’s programs focus on a continuum of care to improve a child’s health. Home, school, and after school environments must all be enriching and supportive of health and wellness initiatives. HMC strives to provide programs that involve parents, teachers, child care, and after school providers.

Health Masters Camp
|
The Health Masters Camp seeks to promote a wellness lifestyle as the way to help youth achieve their academic and life goals. This is accomplished by providing a safe environment where mentors, “health coaches,” motivate campers to perform to the best of their ability. We believe the Health Masters Camp is the place to learn healthy behaviors, make new friends, and have fun!
Camp is held during the summer at the National Training Center in Clermont. Campers enjoy an activity-packed day featuring team activities, aquatics, healthful meals and snacks, and track and field. For more information on enrolling your child, becoming a mentor, or making a donation, please contact DRTMOODY@aol.com.

HMC Camp features:
· Team building activities such as "Health Masters World Cup,” and “Scavenger Hunt"
· Healthy lunches and snacks, filled with whole grain bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, healthy snacks, and of course lots of water and the occasional sports drink
· Nutrition education, demonstrations, and taste tests led by a registered dietitian
· Guest speakers to discuss the importance of developing leadership skills and self confidence
· Camper-driven skits about the information presented to emphasize and ingrain key concepts
· A variety of physical activity, including aerobics, yoga (with lavender oil and music), spinning, light weights, dancercise, and of course swimming every day
· A one on one parent meeting with each camper’s family for orientation and Q & A
· Many handouts including a copy of MyPyramid, a food label instruction guide, walking tips, a healthy lifestyle test, a kids’ cookbook, and a parenting book
Kids and parents alike loved camp so much that families are already calling to register for this summer. To meet this overwhelming need in the community, HMC hopes to expand camp to locations in Pine Hills and Apopka. Partners have already volunteered to let HMC utilize their facilities- all that’s needed is funding to support the program’s expansion.
It costs just $200 to send a child to camp for one week, including transportation, meals, and staffing- a small price to pay to decrease a child’s risk of diabetes. As one camper’s mom says, “Instead of playing video games, Deon exercises more, and we all take walks together. I make my own healthy snacks and the kids follow the dietary guidelines from camp throughout the year?” With your help, we can help many more kids like Deon. Can you help us make this summer’s program the best Health Masters Camp ever?
